MINUTES
AUGUST 28, 2000
Members Present: Brain Wendlandt, Victor Schmidt, Rose
Jergens, and Mark Schnobrich
Absent: Mike Getzke, Deane Dietel
June 26, 2000 Tree Board Minutes were approved.
Energy Tree Project 2000
The board will meet Wednesday Sept. 20th at 5:15 P.M. City Center
to review the final report of the Year 2000 Energy Tree Project. The
board will then discuss the presentation to Hutchinson Utilities
Commission and to seek additional funding for year 2001. The Utility
Commission meets Sept. 27, 2000 at 3:OOP.M. at Hutchinson Utilities.
A total of 72 homes applied for trees with 65 of those homes
receiving trees. The average home received 2 or more trees for
energy conservation. A total of 165 trees went onto private property in
2000.
Review of Tree Ordinance
The board reviewed all the changes of the tree ordinance. The
predominant changes were in the areas of ;
1.) Duties of tree board members
2.) Definitions of shade tree diseases
3.) Tree species allowed to be planted list
4.) Clearance above streets for tree height
5.) Arborist certification
The board approved the revised ordinance and sent it on to the city attorney for
final drafting.
Other Business
- Randall, Bradford
The board discussed the Randall, Bradford area and pending
proposal to remove every other maple. The board agreed that a
public hearing discussing the proposal be made and the
neighborhood residents be invited to provide input into the project.
Schnobrich will put together a plan for the presentation.
- Electing a Chair
Schnobrich brought up to the board the need to appoint a chair
to the board. All board members are on their first term of 3
years with the possibility to be re -appointed. Dean Dietel's,
Mike Getzke's term expires April 2001. Rose Jergen's and
Brain Wendlandt's term expires April 2002. Victor Schmidt's
term expires April 2003. This item was tabled to the next
meeting.
With no other business the meeting was adjourned at 7:OOP.M.
