Schnobrich gave a brief summary of the City Web Page and discussed the possibililty of
adding some extra bits of information to the page. The board was asked what they wanted
to see on the web site with the following suggestions were made.
1.) Add links that citizens could click on to such as the Minnesota Shade Tree
Advisory Committee web site, the National Arbor Day foundation web site,
the Univeristy of Minnesota Extension Service web site, the South Fork Crow
River web site.
2.) More photos for more attraction to the site
3.) Tree Board Meeting dates, programs etc.
4.) A list of trees native to McLeod County
5.) Miller Woods oak savannah project update
Welcome Neighbor
The board approved the go ahead to include items to the Welcome Neighbor greeting
program. This will require a 2 page bulletin describing Hutchinson Community Forestry
happenings along with coupons from area nurseries. Other items to include would
information on Arbor Day, Miller Woods, and our tree planting program. This general
information could be useful to new residents to our community.
Energy Tree Planting Program
The board discussed the year end report to the Utilities Commission and requested
Schnobrich to get them on the next Commission meeting agenda. There was also
discussion on the fact that there may be a change in the annual request for funding as the
year 2004 is a year where work loads and personnel may make it more feasible to
postpone the energy program for 2004 and to wait until 2005 to again offer energy trees
to homeowners.
A total of 70 homes and 146 trees were planted for energy trees in 2003.
Tree booth at the County Fair
The Tree Board elected to have a display booth at the McLeod County Fair along with a
tree giveaway handouts and a small display showing disease, pruning and tree health
issues. It will be located in the Horticultural building on the grounds.
