Summery of Proiects in 2004
The Board reviewed a video depicting the in service accomplishments of the
local Hutchinson Rotary Club [ in conjunction with neighboring Rotary
clubs ] in there tree planting project in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota this
summer. The project included planting trees to help the community of
Buffalo Lake recover from a tornado which struck their community in the
summer of 2003 and destroyed hundreds of trees. Schnobrich presented the
video and stated that he was going to be recommending that the Rotary Club
be nominated for a state community forestry award.
The Miller Woods Oak Savannah Restoration Proiect
Schnobrich presented copies of the letters sent to those residents
abutting Miller Woods who were in violation of property line
encroachment. Three letters were sent out to the residents, all with
deadlines as to when they needed to respond to the infractions.
Schnobrich will report on the status of the owners actions at the
January 2005 meeting.
Mike Smith suggested that the neighborhood police officer be
contacted to help assist with enforcement of the property line
ordinance. Schnobrich stated that was a good idea and that he would
contact the police to help in that capacity.
Schnobrich highlighted the 2004 Energy Tree Project at the November
meeting and was hoping to report that by the December meeting time he
would be able to state that funding for the 2005 Energy Tree planting Project
would be granted from Hutchinson Utilities. However no formal agreement
denying or approving funding for 2005was received from the Utility
Commission. A decision is still pending.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Schnobrich
City Forester
