11-16-2015 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Monday November 16, 2015 at the Hutchinson Police Station Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Curtis Hughes, and Chief Daniel Hatten. Call the Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Todd Brandel at 5:15 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Hughes to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Todd Brandel. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the October 2015 meeting. Motion was made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Chairperson Todd Brandel to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Staffing Issues: Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission the new Police Officer candidate Michael Salazar has completed the background investigation and is scheduled for his medical and psychological examinations. Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission that Mikayla Mcllrath has completed the background investigation and is near completion of her medical and psychological examinations. Jason Demars background investigation is still in the investigation process. Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission that Joshua Phillips submitted his resignation from Hospital Security to accept a full-time police officer position in North Dakota. Officer Phillips resignation has been accepted by Chief Hatten. Chief Hatten requested the Police Commission to Authorize the Police Chief to begin the hiring process for the Part- time Security Officer position. A motion was made by Chairperson Todd Brandel to authorize the hiring process for Part-time Security Officer, seconded by Commissioner Hughes. The motion carried unanimously. Union Update: Chief Hatten informed the Commission an arbitration date has been set for some time in February of 2016. Items from the Floor: Chief Hatten outlined the investigation process for the officer involved shooting from the time of the incident through the possible court action. Adjourn: Motion was made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Chairperson Brandel to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:37 pm.
