10-19-2015 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Monday October 19, 2015 at the Hutchinson Police Station.
Present at the meeting were Chairperson Todd Brandel, Commissioner Curtis Hughes, and Chief Daniel Hatten.
Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Todd Brandel at 5:19 p.m.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Brandel asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Hughes
to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Chairperson Todd Brandel. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Chairperson Brandel asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the September 2015 meeting. Motion was
made by Commissioner Hughes, seconded by Chairperson Todd Brandel to approve the meeting minutes. Motion
carried unanimously.
Staffing Issues:
Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission the two new Police Officer candidates Jacob Willers and Michael
Salazar have accepted the job offer. Officer Willers has been transferred from Part-time Security Officer position to
Full-time Police Officer position and has begun the field training program. Candidate Salazar is currently being
backgrounded.
Chief Hatten informed the Police Commission the Sharelle Parpart has completed the Communication Specialist
training and is working on her own.
Chief Hatten requested the Police Commission Authorize transferring Part-time Communication Specialist candidate
Mikayla Mcllrath to the position of Part-time Security Officer. There is current opening in both positions, and the
City's Human Resource Director indicated the transfer would be allowable if authorized by the Police Commission. A
motion was made by Chairperson Todd Brandel to authorize the transfer of Mikayla Mcllrath from Part-time
Communication Specialist to Part-time Security Officer, seconded by Commissioner Hughes. The motion carried
unanimously.
Union Update:
Chief Hatten informed the Commission an arbitration date has been set for some time in January or February of
2016.

Adjourn: Motion was made by Chairperson Brandel, seconded by Commissioner Hughes to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:37 pm.
