05-17-1993 CCMMINUTES SPECIAL MEETING - HUTCHINSON CITY COUNCIL MONDAY, MAY 17, 1993 The special meeting was called to order at 12:15 P.M. by Mayor Ackland. The following were present: Mayor Paul L. Ackland, Council members Don Erickson and Marlin Torgersor_. Absent: Council members Craig Lenz and John Mlinar. Also present: City Administrator Gary D. Plotz, Finance Director Kenneth B. Merrill, and City Engineer John Rodeberg. Mayor Ackland stated the purpose of the meeting was to review the proposed layout for the new City Hall structure. Engineer Rodeberg presented a revised drawing which would locate the HCDC and HRA offices in the back area and provide a separate entrance. Discussion followed regarding use of the vacant space in the rear of the building and potential use of the old fire station for office space. Councilman Erickson moved to leave the back portion of the building unfinished to the mechanical room and to provide a bathroom and separate entrance to the south of the building according to the schematics prepared by the City Engineer. Motion seconded by Councilman Torgerson and unanimously carried. The timetable for various events was discussed. It was noted the Wold architects would be present at the May 25, 1993 Council meeting to review plans and specifications and cost estimates for the new City Hall. Engineer Rodeberg commented the sky lights and windows in the Council Chambers and Motor Vehicle area would be alternate bids. The advertisement for bids will go out on May 27, 1993, with a bid opening on June 17, 1993 and awarded June 22, 1993, at the City Council meeting. A pre-bid conference will be held at 12:00 noon on June 3, 1993 at City Hall. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12:55 P.M.
