Present: Roger Vacek, Stacey Nass, Jon Ross, Dianne Wanzek, Jack Sandberg, Gerald Grinde, Julie Lofdahl
Absent: Steve Bailey, Mary Christensen, Pam Dille, Ex -Officio
Roger Vacek called the meeting to order. The minutes from the March 23, 2015 meeting were reviewed.
Motioned to approve by Jon Ross, seconded by Dianne Wanzek: Minutes approved as written.
Roger Vacek and Stacey Nass attended their last meeting as we welcome new board members Jack Sandberg
and Gerald Grinde. The only other applicant to serve on the board was not approved as she was not a city
resident and therefore could not serve on the board.
PLS Update:
Roger gave us a handout of all member libraries in Pioneerland Library System. This is a nice resource to have.
Roger also handed out a flyer Pioneerland Library System - One Library, 31 Locations 2014A Year in Review. Facts on
flyer are: 629,844 Visits - 102,259 Registered Borrowers - 26,068 Digital Checkouts - 3,340 Meeting Room Uses -
204,541 Computer Uses - 18,047 Wireless Connections - 44,578 Program Attendance
Visits in Hutchinson are done as a sampling basis a couple days a month.
PLS updated the policy for Loan Period, Fines and Fees. Updated policy approved on April 16, 2015. Roger handed out
a copy of the policy.
The question was brought up on how do the books get here from Duluth? Roger did not have this information, but dic
say that a van goes around the Pioneerland System twice a week to deliver books, but not sure if this is how the books
from Duluth get here.
Old Business:
One Book, One Community Event: Sunday, April 19
This was a great event. William Kent Krueger is a very engaging speaker. There were good questions from the
audience.
Around 170 people attended the event. Four of our Library Board members attended the event; Roger, Gerry, Dianne
and Julie. $550 was given in a free-will offering. There were 30 people at the brunch earlier in the day.
Looking forward on hearing what book will be chosen for 2016 One Book, One Community.
