SPECIAL MEETING - HUTCHINSON CITY COUNCIL
MONDAY, JUNE 15, 1987
1. CALL TO ORDER. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Paul Ackland at
8:00 p.m. Present in addition to Mayor Ackland were Aldermen Mike Carls,
John M linar, Marlin Torgerson and Pat Mikulecky, City Attorney Barry
Anderson and City Administrator Gary Plotz.
2. REPORT BY VIRGIL FLORHAUG. Mr. Florhaug of CAM provided the council
with an updated report on the status of bids. Some changes are still
being negotiated and not all bidders have turned in contracts. It is
hoped that all signed contracts will be in the hands of CAM by June 23.
The council still needs to authorize CAM to send out contracts to
Pinske's and Star Iron. Total cost at this time is projected at
$765,588, which includes the change to a 4 -hour fire wall. Mr. Florhaug
hopes that actual construction can begin by July 1. A site superintendent
has not yet been retained, but several have been interviewed, and it is
likely that Tom Christensen may be selected.
After discussion, motion was made by Alderman Torgerson to authorize CAM
to accept the Pinske and Star Iron bids. Seconded by Alderman Carls, the
motion carried unanimously.
After discussion, motion was made by Alderman Torgerson to authorize the
Mayor and City Administrator to sign all contracts. Seconded by Alderman
Carls, the motion carried unanimously.
3. EASEMENT FOR FORMER PAMIDA PROPERTY. City Attorney Anderson reported
that Pamida has dropped its request for reimbursement from the city, with
the stipulation that they be assured no assessments are being planned.
The Attorney will send a letter to that effect.
4. EASEMENT ON DEFOREST WAGNER PROPERTY. Director of Engineering Eugene
Anderson provided communication to the council stating that Mr. Wagner
requests reimbursement for any damage to his crops from 1987
construction of sewer lines. Easement for construction would be obtained
based on this consideration.
Motion was made by Alderman Torgerson authorizing Director of Engineering
to proceed to negotiate to obtain easement for construction through the
Wagner property. Motion was seconded by Alderman Carls and carried
unanimously.
5. ADJOURNMENT. Meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
