Present: Roger Vacek„ Jon Ross, Steve Bailey, Dianne Wanzek, Stacey Nass, Mary Christensen,
Julie Lofdahl and Pam Dille, Ex -Officio
Roger Vacek called the meeting to order. The minutes from the July 28, 2014 meeting were reviewed.
Motioned to approve; seconded; passed
PLS Update
Findings of the arbitration:
1) Approval of 2% salary increase for the years 2014 & 2015
2) Step increases were denied
3) Additional floating holiday was denied
Old Business:
Author Visit: August 24th, 2014, 2:00 p.m. Woodstone Senior Living Community
Dale Swanson, author of The Thirty -Ninth Man gave a great program to 42 people. Roger and Julie
attended the event and found it interesting. Audience was engaged. Dale used nice maps as visual aids.
This was a nice partnership with Woodstone Senior Living Community. Maybe we will see more
partnerships in the future.
Picture of Ralph Bergstrom:
Bob Wilde is redoing the picture as framing it before it was dry was his error. Do not have a date when it
will be returned. The refurbishing of the portrait has been paid for by the family of Ralph Bergstrom.
Summer Reading Program:
There were 430 children registered for the Summer Reading Program. In the Teen Program, there were 4
active teens and 15 teen logs turned in. Sherry Lund, Children's Librarian, will be invited to the
September meeting to give a full report.
New Business:
McLeod County Board and Hutchinson City Council 2015 budget requests:
Pioneerland administration sent out a letter requesting an increase of 3% budget increase to McLeod
County and the City of Hutchinson. Pam Dille then gave a power point presentation to both McLeod
County and the City of Hutchinson. The results of the request and presentation are still pending.
2015 Technology (computers) upgrade planning/fundraising:
All computers to be replaced in 2015. The plan is to introduce more mobile devises, laptops and tablets.
