06-01-1960 PCM cJune 1, 1960 Annual Report - Planning Commission to City Council. In accordance with ordinance x'208 adopted February 24, 1958, The Planning Com- mission of the City of Hutchinson hereby submits to the City Council of the City of Hutchinson this annual report, covering activities of the Commission from June 1, 1959 thru Y ay 31, 1960. The Commission has studied and :Wade recommendations to the Council on the fol- lo\%ing requests for non -conforming permits: Ed. M ahs - Printing Shop Darrel Strand - Radiator Shop Mrs. Wallace Dobberstein - Children's Wear Exchange The Commission has studied and made recomn endations to the Council on the fol - loving sub -division plots: Peterson Sub -division Southview Addition The Commission has studied and made recommendations to the Council on the fol- lowing zoning changes: Floyd Hoel - To commercialize property to the .-eat of his filling station Frank DeLong - To oymnzereialize property to the west of Rutz Plumbing The Commission has studied and made recommendations to the Council on the fol- lot%Ing miscellaneous projects: 1. T o recommend acceptance of the city engineers study and suggested method of financing storm sewer improvements in S. 0. Hutchinson. 2. Recommended "90 -ahead" on increasing "on street parking" around city park as presented by the commission by the board of directors of the Civic and Commerce Assoc. 3. 2:-` ade recommendations on Catholic School property anne::ation. The Commission has presented to the Council a new House Trailer Ordinance for their action. The Commission has spent the past year also studying proposal for a new zoning ordinance. They met with the City Council and the City Planner in May of 1960 to discuss and accept the final "Comprehensive Plan" from the City Planner, and it is felt that these final reports 1ti11 greatly, aid us in formulating a new zoning ordinance for the City of Hutchinson. In May we also received into our group Mr. Glenn Engwall, %'-Aho joins us as V�.c Council Representative, replacing Tvir. Lloyd Torgrimson who chose not to run for re-election to the Council this year. Ve also lost Mr. Mel 'Hogdahl, whose term c;.:pired in March and vrho chose not to accept re-appointinont' to the Commission. We are currently awaiting than appoint-_.antof his successor by the City Council. For the co=.ing year Y,7 -e anticipate actively investigating and setting up the Capital Irrproveraents Program (prelirrinary = ork has already been done) as specified in the Ordinance, and Nve hope to finish our work on a new zoning ordinance. -' e also anticipate accinptance by the City of the Comprehensive Plan and man as detailej by the City Planner and presented to us in May. In addition, we feel that it ;'All be necessary for as to receive an operating budget from the City with %,,,,hich N,;e VAll be able to seek proficssional guidance in matters of city planning as the occasions arise.
