April 17, 1967
The Regular Meeting of the Hutchinson Planning Commission was called to
order by Chairman Curt Schafer at 7:30 P.M., Monday, April 17, 1967,
in the Council rooms of City Hall.
Members present: Dr. A. J. Thompson, Harry R. Hanson, Lloyd Torgrimson,
Gordon Bublitz, Ethne Stearns, Clint Tracy (at 9:30 P.M.), Engineer
Priebe.
Members absent: Cal Bonniwell
Minutes of the meeting of March 20, 1967, were approved.
APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL PERMIT NO. 669 - Leo Lang - Sign at 38 -2nd Avenue
Southwest.
Motion was made, seconded and carried that the Planning Commission recom-
mends to the City Council that this application be approved and a special
permit issued.
APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE NO. 660 - Lloyd Rath - Addition to garage at
815 -2nd Avenue Southwest.
Motion was mdde, seconded and carried to table action on this application
for variance for sixty days to give Mr. Rath an opportunity to purchase
additional property to meet the requirements of the zoning ordinance.
APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE NO. 657 - Addition to Goebel Fixture Company.
Motion was made, seconded and carried that the Planning Commission
recommends to the City Council that this application be approved and a
variance granted.
ROLLING OAKS PRELIMINARY PLAT
Chairman Schafer opened the hearing on Publication No. 1021 at 8:00 P.M.
Thirteen property owners were present for the hearing.
Charles Wilson, Engineer for the developer, presented the preliminary plat,
duly filed with the City Clerk with proper fee paid.
Discussion with representative of Acoma Township Board on maintenance of
the Shady Ridge Road, and with members of the Crow River Country Club on
extension of the ''School Road" north to the Country Club property line.
Hearing closed at 8:40 P.M.
Hutchinson Planning Commission - 2 - April 17, 1967
PARKING COMMITTEE OF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, represented by Eloi Hamre and
Irvin Burich.
Mr. Burich stated the Committee's interest in procuring professional
help to study the parking problem in Hutchinson, with a recommendation
that the city enter into an agreement with Midwest Planning and Research,
Inc., for professional planning assistance in analyzing present parking
facilities and future on -street and off-street facilities.
Lloyd Torgrimson made a motion that the Planning Commission recommends to
the City Council that Midwest Planning and Research, Inc., of Minneapolis,
be engaged to make a parking survey in Hutchinson at an approximate cost
of $3000.00.
Dr. Thompson seconded the motion, and upon vote being taken, carried.
ROLLING OAKS PRELIMINARY PLAT. Dr. Thompson suggested that the Park
Board and Recreation Committee work with the developer to determine the
kind of property needed for future parks and playgrounds.
Lloyd Torgrimson made a motion that the Planning Commission recommends
to the City Council that the preliminary plat as presented be approved,
subject to the recommendations in the Engineer's report, and also the
following items:
1. An agreement with Acoma Township Board on maintenance of
the Shady Ridge Road.
2. Determine the necessity for extending the ."School Road"
north to the Crow River Country Club property line.
3. Determination of Parks and Playgrounds contribution through
consultation with the Park Board and Recreation Committee.
4. Necessity of securing land from Earl McDonald to make the
"School Road" perpendicular to Highway No. 7.
Dr. Thompson seconded the motion of Lloyd Torgrimson, and upon vote being
taken, carried.,
PLAT OF McDONALDTS ADDITION (Lynn Township)
Gordon Bublitz made a motion that the Planning Commission approves the
plat of Earl McDonald for McDonald's Addition and recommends that Mr.
McDonald secures approval from James Enevoldson for access across Lot 8
of Maryview Second Addition.
Clinton Tracy seconded the motion of Gordon Bublitz, and upon vote being
taken, carried.

Hutchinson Planning Commission - 3 - April 17, 1967
HUTCHINSON INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT FINAL PLAT
Engineer Priebe presented the rearrangement of the approved revised
preliminary plat of the Hutchinson Industrial District, with recommenda-
tions'as to the extension of Second Avenue SE.
Clinton Tracy made a motion that the Planning Commission recommends to
the City Council that the Rearrangement of the Approved Revised Preliminary
Plat be approved with changes as recommended by the City Engineer for the
extension of Second Avenue SE.
Dr. Thompson seconded the motion of Clinton Tracy, and upon vote being
taken, carried.
Motion was made, seconded and carried to adjourn at 10:25 P.M.
