MINUTES
HUTCHINSON PLANNING COMMISSION
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1970
Chairman Linder called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Members present:'
Linder, Deanovic, Tudor, Stearns, Members absent: Cone. Also present:
Adm.. Asst. Mealey, Engineer Priebe.
Don Dressel representing Glendon, Inc. presented a request for a special use
permit for a proposed 20 unit apartment building at the corner of Third Avenue
South and Hassan, which is presently zoned B-3. After some discussion, Chairman
Linder stated that the Planning C ommission would have to discuss the matter
further and would advise Mr. Dressel of its decision.
John Miller presented the final plat of Rolling Oaks Second Addition which
includes 15 lots as recommended previously by the Planning Commission, and
the Street name changed from Emerson To California. The Park and Playground
contribution set at $50.00 per lot is a total of $750.00. Clint Tracy moved
Planning Commission recommend approval to the Council. Motion seconded by
Dave Jensen and carried.
At 8:00 P.M. Chairman Linder declared open the hearing on the Preliminary
Plat of Madson's Addition as advertised in publication no.. 1319. Approximately
seven persons were present for the hearing. Some questions were asked concern-
ing water run-off and proposed building. After considerable discussion, the
hearing was adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
John Korngeible presented a proposed layout for townhouses in Stoney Point..
The area under consideration is not in the city but it is anticipated that a
petition for annexation will be forthcoming in the near future. Lengthy
discussion was held on the desirability of town house development including
construction, tax base, population density and maintenance. Administrative
Assistant Mealey was asked to make inquiries as to how these units are taxed.
No action was taken pending annexation request.
Madson Addition park and playground contribution was discussed. It was determined
that the amount to be set would be $50.00 per lot.for a total of $550.00.
Clint Tracy moved and Dave Jensen seconded, that the Planning Commission recommend
approval of the Preliminary Plat and the $550 contribution. Motion was carried.
The special use permit requested by Mr. Dressel was discussed further. Agreemint
could not be reached and Dave Jensen moved the subject be tabled.. Mrs. Deanovie
seconded the motion and it was carried..
General Discussion followed during which it was agreed that a special meeting
would be held on Monday, November 30, 1970 at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of
working on.goals and policies. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 P.M.
