HUTCHINSON PLANNING, COMMISSION
MAY 29 1972
A special meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order
at 12:00 noon at the Velvet Coach. Members present were:
D. J. Black, M. Tudor, D. Jensen, T. Cone, C. Tracy, M.
Torgerson. Members absent were: J. Kiland. Also present were:
Mr. Bill Potter and Mr. Jim Dahluang of Gibson Stores, Inc.,
.Administrative Assistant Mealey, Engineer Priebe.
Mr. Potter presented plans for construction of a 359000 square
foot store, 175' across the .front and 200' deep. The front
of the building to be brick and decorative masonry, the sides
to be brick and colored metal panels, and the rear to be metal
siding. The area proposed as a site for the store is on T.H.
15 South, adjacent to the North line of the Plaza 15 Shopping
Center propertyq and is currently zoned SC.
A proposed pylon sign at the front of the building was discussed,
as well as future development to the rear of the structure,
with a view to the aesthetics of the loading area. Landscaping
was discussed as a means of ofsetting the stark appearance at
the rear.
Thorough examination and discussion of the plan disclosed no
conflict with Ordinance #245. D'. J. Black moved that approval
of the plan be recommended to the Council subject to approval
of the location and design of any free standing sign the
builder wishes to erect. T. Cone seconded the motion. There
being no further discussion, Chairman Jensen called for a tote.
All members voted "aye", nays there were none and the motion
was declared carried.
There being no further business before the Commission at this
time the meeting was declared adjourned at 1:10 p.m.
