Chainnan Jensen called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Members present: D. J. Black, C. Tracy, T. Cone, D. Jensen
Members absent: M. Torgerson, G. J. Kiland,
Also present: Administrative Assistant Mealey, City Engineer Priebe
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented on
motion of D. J. Black, second by C. Tracy.
Chairman Jensen read a letter from School Superintendent Birkeland
stating that since the School Board meets an the same night as
Planning Commission, they would no longer send a representative to
the meetings on a routine basis, but requested that an agenda and
minutes be mailed. The secretary was so directed.
A discussion was held concerning recommendation for appointment to
the Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of M. Tudor.
At 7:45 p. m. Chairman Jensen called to order public hearing as
duly advertised for vacation of Echo Drive. It was determined that
no one had appeared to be heard on tiv subject. Motion was made and
seconded to close the hearing. Motion carried and hearing was
declared closed at 7:50 p.m. D. J. Black moved that a recommenda-
tion be forwarded to the City Council for vacation of Echo Drive.
C. Tracy seconded the motion and, vote being taken, all members
present voted "aye".
At 8:00 p.m. Chairman Jensen called to order public hearing for
rezoning two lots on Dale Street at Juul Road from R-1 to R-2.
Three persons were present for the hearing. Mrs. T. Konitzko,
S. Martin and S. Andersen all objected to the rezoning on the basis
that once the property is rezoned, there is no assurance that an
apartment dwelling would not be built. They were assured' and
reassured that the purpose of the rezoning is to permit construction
of a paved parking area for Goebel Fixture Co., who already own one
of the two lots and who intend to purchase the other from the
Hutchinson Utilities, for this purpose.
An extensive exchange ensued during which it was pointed out that
in any event, the requirements of the ordinance would not permit
construction of a multiple dwelling unit because there would not
be adequate space for parking.
S. Martin stated that contingent on sale to Goebels,*he would offer
no further objection. D. J. Black stated that he would go on record
as saying that he would not favor the rezoning under any other
circumstances.
