09-15-2014 POLMHutchinson Police Commission Minutes The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Monday September 15, 2014 at the Hutchinson Police Station. Present at the meeting were Chairperson Curtis Hughes, Commissioner Verne Meyer, Commissioner Jo Piehl, and Chief Daniel Hatten. Call the Meeting to Order: The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Hughes at 4:30 p.m. Approval of Agenda: Chairperson Hughes asked if there were any changes to the agenda. A motion was made by Commissioner Meyer to accept the agenda as written, seconded by Commissioner Jo Piehl. The motion carried unanimously. Approval of Minutes: Chairperson Hughes asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the July meeting. Motion was made by Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Commissioner Jo Piehl, to approve the meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Note: The August Police Commission meeting was not held due to a lack of a quorum. Staffing Issues: Chief Hatten informed the Commission that Communication Specialist Katelyn Westphal was hired and has begun her field training. Chief Hatten informed the Commission that Police Officer Wilson Meiers was hired and has begun her field training. The final Chief's interview of the top three candidates will occur on Monday July 28, 2014. Union Update: Chief Hatten informed the Commission there has been one grievance by an officer related to an overtime pay issue. This issue is currently being dealt with between the Officer and the City. Items from the Floor: Commissioner Meyer informed the Commission that he would be resigning from the Police Commission effective immediately. Commissioner Meyer state he had his family were moving out of the community. With there being no further business to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Meyer, seconded by Commissioner Jo Piehl, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried unanimously.
