Chairman Cone recognized Jon Geiss, Rojer Zajieek and Joel Gruen,
representing "Citizens For A Better Hutchinson." Mr. Geiss
stated the group wanted to,more or less get to know the Planning
Commission. He inquired whether the City had officially adopted
a Comprehensive Land Use Plan. It was explained the -City had
been following the basic 1958-359 Comprehensive Land Use Plan
and that various changes of that plan were made due to the
conditions and changes that had occurred within the City. Mr.
Geiss stated the primary interest of their group -,was to preserve
the shoreline of the river and they wanted -the Planning Commission
to protect the City from situations that would degrade the north
shore of the river parks. After an extremely lengthy discussion,
Chairman Cone statedthe Planning Commission understood what
"Citizens For a Better Community- was trying to say. Mr. Gei-ss
then thanked the Planning -Commission and apologized for any
misunderstanding that might have developed from the discussion.
Administrative Assistant Mealey noted the flyer received in which
the Center for the Study of Local Government was sponsoring a
three day workshop regarding the study of micro -cities. Adminis-
trative Assistant Mealey recommended someone -- .the
Planning Commission attend these three day workshops. After dis-
cussion, it was the concensus of the Commission that -due to such
short notice of these meetings, no one would be able to make
arrangements to attend. It was then suggested that an inquiry
be made if such a workshop could be held in Hutchinson. Adminis-
trative Assistant Mealey informed he would investigate the matter.
There being no further business to come before the Planning
Commission, meeting was declared adjourned, at 9:15 P.M.
