Regular Meeting.
April 8, 1968.
The President, H. P. Quade, called the meeting to order, and the
Secretary, R. E. Young, stated that all members, namely, Clinton
Tracy and H. W. Filk, were present and participating in the
meeting and in addition, Mr. Orville Kuiken, Manager of the Gas
Division, was present, and also W. E. Reyerson, Attorney for the
Commission.
At the hour of 5, P. M. President Quade stated that the time set
forth in the notice for opening; bids on the gas utilities' building
as called for by the plans and specifications prepared by
Associated
Consultants , Minneapolis, Minnesota., had arrived ived and that the sealed
bids had been placed in the hands of the Secretary of the Commission.
The President instructed the Secretary of the Commission, R. E.
Young, and Carl Wardlow of Associated Consultants to open the bids.
The following; bids Caere received and opened:
(1) Kratochvill Construction Company, Inc.
New Prague, Minnesota
Bid Item No. 1 - $56,900.00
(2) Ben Neitge Construction Company, Inc.
Mankato, Minnesota
Bid Item No. 1 - $65,'00.00
(3) Raske Building Systems, Inc.
Cosmos, Minnesota
Bid Item No. 1 - $61,299.00
(4) Mattson- Omtvedt Steel Buildings, Inc.
Redwood Falls, Minnesota
Bid Item No. 1 - $48,675.00
(5) Dahlen Company, Inc..
Minnetonka, Minnesota
Bid Item No. 1 - $61,R65.00
The foregoing five bids are the only bids received pursuant to
the published notice for bids and were the only bids considered
by the Commission.
After considering the bids, the President advised the various
bidders that they could be excused while the Commission gave
consideration to the matter and after discussion was had the
Commission requested that the representative of Mattson - Omtvedt
Steel Buildings, Inc. be called back to the meeting. Mr. Paul F.
Bleckley was the representative of said company and appeared on
behalf of the company and in response to questioning stated that
the bid was to include electrical work by Klabunde Electric,
Redwood Falls, Minnesota, and mechanical and heating by Hutchinson

Sheet Metal Works (Don Krasen), Hutchinson, Minnesota. Mr.
Bleckley was questioned regarding the bid and the materials to be
furnished all as set forth in his proposal and after due consider-
ation Member Clinton Tracy moved that the Commission accept the
bid for bid item No. 1 made by Mattson - Omtvedt Steel Buildings,
Inc. in the amount of $48,,675-00. Member H. W. Filk seconded the
motion and upon said motion being put by the Chairman, all members
voted
in favor of said motion and there was no vote in opposition thereto
and said motion was unanimously carried.
After considerable discussion with Mr. Bleckley, he stated that
Mr. Don Birnbarm, who was present at the meeting, was the
construction foreman for the Mattson - Omtvedt Steel Buildings, Inc.
and would be in charge for this cons ruction.
The Commission then excused the representatives of Mattson - Omtvedt
Steel Buildings, Inc., inasmuch as that matter had been completed.
/'The Secretary stated that it appeared to be for the best interests
of the Commission that an Assistant Secretary be appointed, to be
available to carry out the duties of Secretary in the absence of
the Secretary; upon motion duly made by H. W. Filk and seconded
by Clinton Tracy, it was unanimously voted ' to elect Ruth Hakel,
Assistant Secretary of Hutchinson Utilities Commission and granting
to her all the rights and powers and duties of the Secretary in the
absence of the Secretary.
Member H. W. Filk moved that the regular meeting of the Commission
be postponed from the second Monday in May, 1968, to May 15, 1968
at 3 P. M. This motion was seconded by Member Clinton Tracy, and
upon vote being taken all voted in favor thereof and the motion was
declared unanimously carried.
Motion was made by Member Tracy and seconded by Member Filk to
authorize the Superintendent and one other emi)loyee to attend a
Bell Prover School in Osage, Iowa on April 25, 1968. Motion was
uananimously carried.
Motion was made by Member Filk and seconded by Member Tracy to
invest any surplus funds. Motion was unanimously carried.

Trere being no further business, Member Filk made a motion to
adjourn, seconded by member Tracy. Motion was unanimously carried.
