Regular Meeting
June 24, 1996
All Commissioners were present; also present were Mgr. Kadrmas and Counsel
Prochnow.
President Cornell called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
The minutes of May 28, 1996 regular meeting were reviewed. A motion was made
by Commissioner Carls, seconded by Commissioner Ackland to approve the
minutes as written. Motion was unanimously carried.
The May payables were discussed. A motion was made by Commissioner Ackland,
seconded by Commissioner Gilmer to accept the May payables in the amount of
$1,578,027.28 (detailed listing in payables book). Motion was unanimously carried.
The 1996 year -to -date (thru May) financial and budget reports were reviewed. A
motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Ackland
to accept the financial and budget reports. Motion was unanimously carried.
Manager's Report:
1. Unit #8 overhaul completed. On Friday a full load test was done.
2. On July 2 will meet with Hartford Boiler Insurance agents regarding steam
boiler insurance coverage. It is rumored that Hartford may stop providing
steam boiler insurance coverage on the LM6000. If Hartford does stop
providing steam boiler coverage, the League of Minnesota Cities will provide
coverage until the end of 1996.
3. Received request from Salvation Army about participating in the HeatShare
Program again this year. After discussion, it was decided to have Counsel
Prochnow check if Hutchinson Utilities can make a contribution to McLeod
County's energy assistance program instead.
4. Presented requisition for replacement of station outlet valve at border station
#1 - the valve is leaking. After discussion, a motion was made by
Commissioner Gilmer, seconded by Commissioner Carls to approve
requisition to Minnesota Limited Inc for replacement of station outlet valve
at border station #1 in the amount of $12,250. Motion was unanimously
carried.
5. Discussed allowing all five commissioners to sign Hutchinson Utilities
checks. Each check would still require two signatures. A motion was made
by Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Gilmer to allow all

Hutchinson Utilities commissioners and recording /assistant secretary to sign
Hutchinson Utilities checks - checks would need two signatures. Motion was
unanimously carried.
Old Business:
Counsel Prochnow briefed the Commission on three outstanding legal issues.
New Business:
Counsel Prochnow's last meeting will be in August, 1996. It was decided to send
a letter to all attorneys practicing in Hutchinson stating we will have an opening for
attorney to the Hutchinson Utilities Commission; and if interested in this job, they
should contact us. President Cornell appointed Commissioner Gilmer,
Commissioner Carls and Counsel Prochnow to be on task force to interview
applicants.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Gilmer, seconded
by Commissioner Ward to adjourn the meeting at 4:48 p.m. Motion was unanimously
carried.
