(Closed Meeting)
May 7, 1991
Commissioners Daggett, Lyke, Beatty and Richards were present;
Commissioner Cornell was absent; also present were Mgr. Kadrmas,
Counsel Prochnow, Melvin "Butch" Wentworth and Mark Carrigan,
Mr. Wentworth's attorney.
Counsel Prochnow called the meeting to order at 6:35 a.m.
The purpose of the closed meeting was to discuss allegations and
charges (using public equipment for private use without permission)
against employee, Melvin "Butch" Wentworth.
"Butch" Wentworth and Mark Carrigan were dismissed.
The allegations and charges were presented. A motion was made by
Commissioner Lyke, seconded by Commissioner Beatty to drop the
charge of theft of public /private property. Motion was unanimously
carried. A motion was made by Commissioner Lyke, seconded by
Commissioner Beatty that misappropriation of public property occurred.
Motion was unanimously carried.
"Butch" Wentworth and Mark Carrigan were asked to rejoin the meeting.
A motion was made by Commissioner Beatty, seconded by Commissioner
Lyke that disciplinary action should be taken. Motion was unanimously
carried.
The meeting was opened to the public at 7:15 a.m.
Disciplinary action was discussed. After discussion, a motion was
made by Commissioner Beatty, seconded by Commissioner Lyke that
effective immediately Melvin "Butch" Wentworth would receive two (Z)
weeks suspension without pay and twelve months probation. Motion
was carried. (Nay - Commissioner Daggett - because he felt the
discipline was too lenient.)
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 a.m.
