May 25, 1988
All Commissioners were present; also present were Mgr. Hakel, Counsel
Peterson, Ivan Larson, "Butch" Wentworth, Jerry Ross and Robin Ripley
of Dakota Rail, Ron McGraw, Dakota Rail's attorney, Jane Hodgins,
Hutchinson Leader staff writer and Sue Winter.
President Daggett called the meeting to order at 7:10 a.m.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss easements with Dakota
Rail. Railroad has filed a chapter 11 bankruptcy so any decision
must be made by a trustee. Easement for the project by the river
would be for approximately 19,000 square feet. All of Hutch Utilities
present easements plus the one for project by the river would be
about $5,000 a year. Any additional crossings on railroad property
would be an additional cost. "Butch" was instructed to provide
Dakota Rail with maps showing the 13.8 project routing. Counsel
Peterson was instructed to check if Hutch Utilities needs an easement
from the railroad or from the City of Hutchinson. Counsel Peterson
and Ron McGraw will communicate to keep Hutch Utilities and Dakota
Rail informed.
Filling the position of general manager was discussed. President
Daggett has talked with Don Swanson of Associated Consultants, Tony
Rude of United Power Association and Dick Kirkham of Minnesota
Municipal Utilities Association and was given names of qualified
individuals. After discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner
Beatty, seconded by Commissioner Cornell to post internally for
general manager position. Motion was unanimously carried. Mgr.
Hakel was instructed to post general manager position.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
8:50 a.m.
