01-09-1978 HUCMi� Regular Meeting January 9, 1978 All Commissioners were present, also Mgr. Alexander and Ruth Hakel. The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. by President Quade. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 12, 1977, were read and approved as read. The minutes of the Special Meeting of December 21, 1977, were read and approved as read. Mgr. Alexander commented on his contact with Mr. Hadaway of Curtiss- Wright concerning the time element in the repair of the unit. Mr. Hadaway assured him that due to strike problems the repair would not be possible until April, 1978. Mgr. Alexander presented a new farm rate which reads as follows: All rural customers (other than three -phase and all electric homes) who have a tract of land devoted to the production of crops, livestock, or poultry and whose dwelling and other farm buildings are on one meter, will receive the first 1600 KWH at Residential Rate. The excess of 1600 KWH will be charged at the Small. Electric General Service Rate beginning with step one. After lengthy discussion on the matter, a motion was made by Commissioner Tracy, seconded by Commissioner Filk and carried to adapt the Rural Rate as presented subject to City Council approval. A motion was made by Commissioner Filk, seconded by Commissioner Tracy and carried to pay Moorhead Machinery and Boiler Company in the amount of $18,500.00 for quote 77 -656 and $21,000.00 for quote 77- 656 -1. After discussion on breakdown insurance on generating units, a motion was made by Commissioner Tracy, seconded by Commissioner Filk and carried to secure coverage from the Madsen Agency, who represent The Rome Insurance Company, for a term of one year at a cost of $21,344.00 with a review of the program at the end of one year. The coverage does not cover the Curtiss- Wright which is covered by warranty at the present time. 167 Mgr. Alexander requested that Orville Kuiken and Dennis Riedel be allowed to attend the Midwest Gas Association Meeting to be held in Omaha, Nebraska, February 14 - 16, 1978. The Commission approved the request. Mgr. Alexander presented information on a proposed downtown payment center for customer convenience. Mgr. Alexander was instructed to procure the service for a one -rear period at x(20.00 per month if enough participating subscribers take part.
