MINUTES OF ADJOURNED SPECIAL MEETING OF THE 245
LIGHT AND POWER COMMISSION OF THE CIIY OF ( 225 )
HUTCHINSON, HELD AT THE OFFICE OF DR. R. I.
SHEPPARD ON THURSDAY, MAY 20,1954,
The President called the adjourned special meeting to
order and the Secretary announced that all members of the Commission
viz,, Dr. R. I. Sheppard, President, Dr. A. J, Thompson, and R. W.
Dahl, Secretary, were present in person; ;.add there were also present,
Leon A. Winter, engineer, Ralph E. Young, plant superintendent,
Elmer C Jensen and W. E. Reyerson, attorneys for the Commission.
Following a discussion of the various bids which had been
opened on April 28, 1954, the President asked the members of the
Commission if they were ready to vote on the acceptance of a bid,
and, upon being informed that the members were ready to vote,
requested a motion from a member. Member A. J, Thompson then moved
that, recognizing the exception taken by all bidders, including
Nordberg Manufacturing Company, pursuant to the rules DEMA, to the
'penalty", clause in the specifications, and subject to said exception,
that the bid of Nordberg Manufacturing Company, Basic Bid OAM in the
amount of $240,104.009 be, accepted and that the contract be entered
in to with said Nordberg Manufacturing Company pursuant to the
proposal and the specifications and including the spare parts as
enumerated by a representative of said company. Member R. W. Dahl
seconded the motion of Dr. A. J. Thompson, and upon vote being taken
all members voted in favor of said motion and no member voted against
said motion, and the motion was unanimously carried.
Upon motion duly made by member R. W. Dahl and seconded
by member Dr, A. J. Thompson, and unanimously carried, it was voted
to include in the contract with Nordberg Manufacturing Company that
the generator and exciter are to be furnished by Electric Machinery
Company in accordance with the specifications.
Upon motion duly made by member R. W. Dahl and seconded
by member Dr. A. J. Thompson, and unanimously carried, it was voted
to return any certified checks to bidders, and also that the Light
and Power Commission of the City of hutchinson wished to extend to
Worthington Pump and Machinery Corporation and to Cooper - Bessemer
Corporation its thanks and appreciation for the consideration given
by said companies in bidding on the proposals of the Commission,
and for the courtesies shown members of the Commission by represen-
tatives of these companies.
