Special meeting~ was held at the Plant Of-ice for the purpose
of opening,,, bids for a new turbine pump to be installed in the old
city well.

The two lowes.t bidders tiiere asked to submit bids on connecting;
the discharge' pipe of this turbine pump to the present water
pipe to the poVier plant, also, acidizing of the well located in the
power plant building;.
The meeting, was adjourned until May 31, 1955.

A special meeting of the Light & Power Commission was held on May
31, 1955 at Dr. R. I. Sheppard's office.
All Commissioners were present, also Supt. Young;.
Layne- Trlinnesota Company and Berg,erson- Caswell, Inc., the two low
bidders on the pump, submitted bids on acidizing the old plant
well and connecting; the nevi well to the ;plant pipe line. The
bid of Layne - Tiinnesota Com-:)-:ny being; the lowest was accepted.

THIS AGREE',_ENT.1, made and entered into this 6th day of
June, 1955, b;, and. between LAY1�IE- f�IINTY SOTA COMPA1Y, a corporation,
with principal office at 317 California Street Northeast,
T,.inneapolis, I,.innesota, party of the first part, hereinafter some-
times called the "SELLER ", and IIUTC 1II�201I UTILITIES COLUIIISSION,
Hutchinson, Minnesota, a municipal corporation, party of the
second part, hereinafter sometimes called the "PURCHASER'?,

Whereas the party of the first part is engaged in the
business of well drilling and the sale of pumps and other material
and apparatus in connection with the well drilling; business, and
Whereas the second party desires to have installed certain
apparatus in connection with certain wells used by the Municipal
Electric Plant in the City of Hutchinson, and
Whereas first party has submitted written proposals to
second party for the furnishing; of a pump and other apparatus and
accessories in connection with the wells operated by second party
in the furnishing of water to the Municipal Electric Plant in the
City of Hutchinson,
NOW, THEZEFORE, in consideration of the sum of Five
thousand Five hundred Seventy - eight and 75100 Dollars (5,578.75)
to be paid by second party to first party at the time hereinafter
set forth, and subject to the provision hereinafter mentioned
for replacement of a pressure regulator valve, first party agrees
to furnish the following materials and work in the installation
thereof as follows:
1• One Layne vertical deep well turbine pump in the
16 inch flowing well, consisting, of;
One -TF 818 heavy duty pump head.
Fifty feet of 8 inch column with 11 inch stainless steel
drive shaft having Yonel sleeves for operating in Good-
rich cutlers rubber bearings for water 'lubrication.
One -3 stage 12 inch VVMC bowl assembly to deliver 1000
gallons per minute against 50 pounds per square inch
discharge pressure.
Ten feet of 8 inch suction pipe.
One- 50 HP 1800 r.p.m. 220440 volt vertical hollow
shaft motor (non - reversing ratchet).

2. Seller agrees that if the manufacturer of the Clayton
pressure ret--;1-jlator valve will not Luarantee that the valve will work
properly in the situation and for the purposes for VE-ich it is being
installed, that his regulator valve will be replaced with other
working mechanism to assure purchaser that the discharge pressure
will remain at 50 pounds, and not over 55 pounds, regardless of the
number of gallons of water delivered per minute from the well, and

adjustment made as to cost; and seller further agrees that in the
event the maker of the Clayton pressure regulator valve guarantees .
the valve to work properly under the conditions,, such guarantee will

be passed on to purchaser by seller.
3. Purchaser agrees to pay seller the purchase price of

`50578.75 upon the furnishing of the materials and the completion
of the work of installing materials, as set forth in this

contract, and seller agrees to furnish the required Performance
Bond in connection with this contract.
