Special Meeting.
.
A special meeting of the Light and Power Commission together with
the following members of the City Council, namely, Mayor W. L. Bahr,
Aldermen Floyd Dobratz and Irving Larson, was held at the offices of the
Light Commission in the Laatsch Building at 7530 o'clock p.m. on the
above date.
Said meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the water
situation as it pertains to both the Light Plant and City. The substance
of the discussion was that it was expedient, necessary and in the public
interest that a test well be drilled at once and because of a previous
oral recommendation made by the State Board of Health, such test hole was
to be drilled in the South Park and at a location near the water tank.
McCarthy Well Company and Layne- Minnesota Company and G. B. Frederickson,
Well Driller, had all previously been notified to be at this hearing and
were present either in person or by representatives. The matter of a
tes# well was discussed by them after which they were asked to submit
bids for the drilling of a test well at the location referred to above
which said bids were to be submitted in writing at 7t30 on the evening of
September 1, 1949.
The meeting thereupon adjourned to 71,30 o'clock p.m., September 1,
1949.

Adjourned Meeting.
All members of the Light and Power Commission and the Mayor W.
L. Bahr and Aldermen Floyd Dobratz and Irving Larson met at the officds
of the Light Commission in the Laatsch Building at 700 o'clock p.m.
on the above date.
Written bids for the construction of a test well were sub-
mitted in writing by McCarthy Well Company, Layne- Minnesota Company and
by G. B. Frederickson, Well Driller. Each of said bids was accompanied
by the required deposit.
Said bids were opened and the bids were as followst
McCarthy Well Company ...... $8.00 a foot
Layne- MinnesotaCompany ..... $3.00 a foot plus $100 for testing
G. B. Frederickson $4.00 a foot plus $8.50 an hour
fortesting.
After considering the foregoing bids, the Light Commission re-
quested the City Council to make its recommendations to the Commission
as to which of sild bids should be accepted by the Commission for the
construction of said test well, the intention being that the City Council
would hold a meeting the following evening, to -wit, on September 2, 1949.
