by the bidder, he proceeded to.read the bid•of Nordberg Manufacturing Company,
along with the comments made, and finally read the bid of Worthington Corporation
along with the comments and the bid by this bidder.
The representatives of the various bidders were excused from the meeting
and some discussion was had regarding the bids and the Engineer stated that the
bids received were all very favorable bids but that it would take considerable
time to tabulate them and to give them due consideration by the Engineers and
stated that it would be a matter of about ten (10) days before that information
would be available to the Commission.
The meeting was called to order at 1:50 P. M. and the notice for the
taking of bids was considered and it was noted that the bids pursuant to
the notice were to be received at the office of the Hutchinson Utilities
Commission in the City of Hutchinson, Minnesota, until 2 o'clock P. M. on
the 21st day of September, 1966, and then to be publicly opened.
At 2:00 P. M. the President of the Commission declared that the time
for receiving bids had expired and it was noted that there were three (3)
bids received, namely, the bid of Enterprise Division of De Laval Turbine,
Inc., Oakland, California, the bid of Nordberg Manufacturing Company, Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, and Worthington Corporation, Harrison, New Jersey. The President
of the Commission instructed Mr. P. E. Fuller, Engineer, in cooperation with
Mr. Ralph Young, Superintendent, to open the sealed envelopes containing the
bids and to proceed to read the bids. All persons present were furnished
with tabulation forms to tabulate the bids as they were read.
All bidders furnished bid bonds in an amount of 10% of the amount of
their bids which qualified all three (3) bidders in this matter.

Representatives of the bidders were then called in one at a time and
given an opportunity to explain the bids made and give their sales talks.
Following the talks by the three (3) representatives of the three (3) bidders,
representatives of the companies making the generators which were considered
in the bids were also given an opportunity to make their sales talk to the
Commissioner.
Again all representatives of bidders were requested to leave the meeting
and it was then determined by the Commission that the matter would be held in
abeyance until the Engineers had given the matter due consideration and had
analyzed the bids for the benefit of the Commission and that a meeting be
held at a later date, possibly by the end of September, to again consider
the bids for the purchase of an engine or engines.
During all of this time the Mayor was given an opportunity to express
himself regarding the handling of the matter and the needs of the Utilities
Commission were discussed in more or less general manner, having in mind
that the demand on the plant is going to be greatly increased within the
next year.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
