Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Light & Power Commission of the City of Hutchinson met at the Armory in the City of Hutchinson, ldiinnesota. Dr. R. I. Sheppard, Dr. A. J. Thompson, Plant Superintendent R. W. Strohmeier, Buell & Winter Engineering Company of Sioux City, Iowa, and City Attorney Elmer C. Jensen were present. The reading; of the minutes of the preceedi ng meetings was dispensed with. Dr. R. I. Sheppard, President of the Commission called the meeting; to order and stated the purpose of the meeting was for the opening and reading of the bids presented for the new plant equipment. Bids from the following; firms and corporations were opened and read by Mr. Buell, of the Buell & 'Minter Engineering Company of Sioux `'ity, Iowa, to wit: Nordberg Manufacturing Company Milwaukee, Wisconsin Worthington Pump & Machinery Corp St. Paul, Minnesota Fairbanks, Morse & Company St. Paul, Minnesota Electric Equipment Company Des Moines, Iowa till of said bids were accompanied by certified checks in the required amounts; said bids were tabulated by Iulr. Winter of the Buell & Winter Engineering Company of Sioux pity, Iowa. Moved by Commissioner Thompson and seconded by Commissioner Sheppard that the Commission recess until 1 :00 P. M. Motion carried. 1 :00 P. P1. - May 6, 1938 The Commission reconvened in the Armory. Dr. R. I. Sheppard and Dr. A. J. Thompson, R. W. Strohmeier, Plant Superintendent the Buell & Winter Engineering Company and Elmer C. Jensen, amity Attorney were present . Commissioner Thompson introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION That the offer and proposal of Carlton D. Beh Company to purchase from the Municipal Light & Power Plant, Hutchinson, Minnesota, its pledge orders in the sum of $90,000.00 more or less, be accepted for the reason that the said proposal was the lowest and the best bid made or offered in connecion with the, sale of said pledge orders. 1 And be it further resolved that the President and Secretary of the Commission of the said Municipal Light & Power Plant be and they hereby are authorized to enter into a contract with the said Carlton D. Beh Company for the sale of said orders to said Company and tia t said contract be in substantially the form of Exhibit "A" a true and correct copy of which is dated May 6, 1938 and is on file with the Secretary of the said Commission.. Commissioner Sheppard seconded the motion and upon roll call, the Commission voted as follows; Commissioner ')r. R. I. Sheppard - Aye Commissioner Dr. A. J. Thompson - Aye President Sheppard thereupon delcared theResolution duly adopted. The Engineering firm of Buell & Winter of Sioux City, Iowa having completed a detailed tabulation of all bids, a general discussion was held on their merits. The various bidders were then called in privately and given an opportunity to' explain the merits of the respective equipment. Moved by Commissioner Thompson and seconded by Commissioner Sheppard due tq the illness of Commissioner Dahl. that Commissioners Thompson and Sheppard and the Secretary adjourn to the residence of Commissioner Dahl for the continuance of the meeting . Commissioner Thompson introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED by the Light & Power Commission of the City of Hutchinson, Minnescta that the following bid and propo for the fourth unit, which bid wad duly filed and submitted on the 6th day of May, 1938, be and the same hereby is accepted all subject to the terms and conditions contained in the plans and specificationsof the engineers and notice to contractors on file with the Secretary of the Commission, the commission hereby exercises its option as to material, equipment as hereinafter specified, as follows, to wit; Proposal u B" Bid of Nordberg Manufacturing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin covering equipment for complete installation of the fourth unit•. P. 67.9 Generator KW .80 PF 1000 Generator KVA 1250 Cash price for proposal "B" complete in place $84,415-32, said work tn be done in strict compliance and accordance with the Notice to Contractors, Instructions to Bidders, General Specification. i BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Secretary be and they hereby are authorized and directed to forthwith enter into and execute on behalf of the Light & Power Commission of the City of Hutchinson, Minnesota, the necessary contract with said successful bidder to whom said job and contract is hereby awarded. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the certified checks of all unsuccessful bidders on said job be returned by the Secretary to said bidders. Commissioner Dahl seconded the motion to adopt the said resolution, and upon roll call the vote was as follows: Commissioner Sheppard Aye it Thompson i� it Dahl " President Sheppard thereupon declared the said Resolution duly adopted. Motion by Commissioner Dahl, and seconded by Commissioner Thompson that the .'Y3uell & Winter Engineering Company .of Sioux City, Iowa be paid One Thousand Two Hundred & Fifty Dollars ($1,250.00) for engineering, services, which constitutes one- half the amount agreed upon.
