IV. Old Business
th
A.Tours- The trip to Mystic Lake on October 5 was close to full and went well.
The November tour to the Brooten dinner theater was cancelled due to the
rd
theater closing. A December 3 evening trip to Crown College for a Christmas
concert has 29 signed up so it definitely will take place. Several trips are in the
works for 2011.
th
B.Update on Programs- The Senior Expo was on September 28 and Julie and
September hosted a booth for the Senior Center. Several people they talked to
didn’t realize there was a Senior Center in Hutchinson. The Expo drew a high
number of participants. This past month September purchased some new tables
for card playing that are the appropriate size. The quilters are going to take a
break from their activity for awhile and the knitters are working on fingerless
gloves now that the military is no longer in need of the caps they had been
making. “Traveling at a Glance” did a video tour of Ireland this past month.
The November tour will be of Canada. The chair covers are done and were
already rented once. “Killers” was the movie for October and “The Young
Victoria” will be playing in November. A dinner dance is being planned for
January with Michael’s one man band performing from 2-5p with dinner at 5p.
V.New Business
A.Computer Purchase- September is checking with the City IT director, Tom
Kloss, to get his opinion on the purchase of a new laptop computer for the
Senior Center.
B.Other- The group discussed the pros and cons of using e-mails to inform
participants of upcoming dances and other events. While this is a valuable tool
and inexpensive, the concern is that not all seniors who have e-mail look at it on
a regular basis.
VI. Adjournment: Rick made a motion to adjourn at 11:10am with a second from Cliff.
The motion passed.
Next Meeting: Monday, November 22nd at 10:00 a.m.
