II. SecretaryÓs Report: The July minutes were examined. Rick made a motion to
approve the minutes and Randy seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
III. TreasurerÓs Report: Randy reported income this past month of $237 from card sales,
$10 in cassette tape sales, and a net dance loss of $59. Additional revenue of
$1171.80 came from a tour reimbursement. The current balance is $6790.32. Rick

IV. Old Business
th
A.Tours- On August 10 a tour headed to the Museum of Russian Art with a
visit to ÐMoscow on the HillÑ, a Russian restaurant afterwards. Participants also
got a chance see Ukranian artists at work. A tour will head to the State Fair on
nd
September 2 and is just about full. The Twins game scheduled for September
nd
22 is sold out. Upcoming trips also include a trip to Mystic Lake in October, a
thrd
November 5 tour to the Brooten dinner theater, and a December 3 trip to
Crown College for a Christmas concert. The Old Log Theater is on tap for an
event after the first of the year. Julie discussed the possibility of going to the
Chanhassen Dinner Theater for an upcoming event. Although the fee would be
considerably larger than most of our other tours, the board felt that we should
pursue events that would be popular with seniors even if there is additional cost
involved.
B. Update on Programs- The chair cover project is going well. September is
considering the possibility of renting the covers for off-site events. She is also
developing a form for these rentals including a deposit. On September 30th the
board was planning an open house for the Senior Center. It was decided to
th
combine with the Senior Expo on September 28 and get a booth. This would
create higher traffic while still letting people know what the Center has to offer.
Since the classic movies were having less than stellar success, the Center is
trying a new program called ÐTraveling at a GlanceÑ. The first one is about
Italy and will include some sampling of Italian items. ÐLetters to JulietÑ will be
the movie for September. The final dances for 2010 will be held in September
th
and October. Monday, September 27 , is the fellowship dinner. The knitters
are starting up again and they have a new donation of yarn to work with. The
quilters are still at work on their latest project. Wii bowling has about a dozen
participants.
V. New Business
A.City Budget Issues- John gave an update on the City budget process. The
current cuts will impact coverage of staff in both the Recreation Center and the
Event Center. While nothing has been firmed up yet, it looks as though both
buildings will have reduced hours beginning either in November or at the
beginning of the new year.
VI. Adjournment: Rick made a motion to adjourn at 11:07am with a second from Harriet.
The motion passed.
