July 26, 2010
Present: Harriet Sturges, Phyllis Birkholz, Louise Jessen, Cliff Swanson, Julie Jensen,
Rick Reiner, Carrol Olson, Randy Bullert
City Staff: September Jacobsen, John McRaith
Absent: None
I. The meeting was called to order at 10:07 a.m. by Carrol Olson
II. SecretaryÓs Report: The June minutes were examined. Louise made a motion to
approve the minutes and Harriet seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
III. TreasurerÓs Report: Randy reported income this past month of $251 from card sales,
$470 in dance floor rentals, and a net dance loss of $24. Additional revenue of $190
came from a tour reimbursement. Harriet made a motion to accept the report with a
second from Rick. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business

A.Tours- The sold out Green Lake tour was on July 13 and all went well.

Coming up on August 10 is a trip to the Museum of Russian Art with a visit to
a Russian restaurant and a chance see Ukranian artists at work. There are still
nd
eleven openings available. A tour will head to the State Fair on September 2
nd
and currently has six openings. The Twins game scheduled for September 22
is sold out. Also on tap for this fall are trips to Mystic Lake in October, the
Brooten dinner theater in November, and Crown College for a Christmas
concert in December.
B. Update on Programs- The chair project is going well with125 covers sewn so
far. The goal is 500. The next old time movie will be ÐA Star is BornÑ with
Judy Garland. The registration process for monthly massages has been
changed. The ten minute slots for $5 will now have to be paid up front as some
people are failing to show for appointments. In the newsletter ÐGrandparenting
101Ñ will be switching to ÐTips for SeniorsÑ. Phone scams will be one of the
features. ÐDate NightÑ will be the August movie of the month. The August
Fellowship Dinner will include barbecued riblets as part of a summer picnic

theme and will be held on August 30. Bingo will also be part of the festivities.

A Senior Center Open House is scheduled for September 30. The bike club is
still meeting weekly.
V. New Business
A.City Budget Issues- John reported that the City budget will be taking a major
cut in the coming year. As part of this process, we may see some reduced hours
at the Event Center. How severe the cuts will be are dependent on several
factors that will play out in the coming months including the upcoming
elections. The board will be kept informed as the budgeting process plays out.
VI. Adjournment: Randy made a motion to adjourn at 10:48am with a second from Cliff.
The motion passed.
