Senior Advisory Board Minutes
December 20, 2004
Present: John Lyman, June Lyman, Julie Jensen, Jim Hanson, Lorraine Zajicek,
Liz Tokarczyk, Robert Cogley. City Staff: September Jacobsen, John McRaith,
Absent: Kathy Hemmah
I. The meeting was called to order at 10: 10 a.m. by chairman Jim Hansen
II. Secretary's Report: The November 15th minutes were examined. Julie Jensen
made the motion to approve and John Lyman seconded the motion. Motion approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Craft materials were purchased at a cost of $177.05. A cost of
$2383.47 was incurred this month for the dance floor addition. Liz Tokarczyk made
the motion to approve the treasurer's report with a second from June Lyman. The
motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Women's Expo has 10 openings for the January trip. Julie planned a trip
for February to a musical rendition entitled "Cole Porter-Anything Goes" which
is sold out. She indicated that a March trip may be planned to the Brown
Institute Cooking School. Other upcoming possibilities include another trip to
Chanhassen and Old Log theaters, a casino trip and some boat tours. Julie also
indicated that there was also much interest in an overnight trip at some point in
the future.
B. Update on Programs- The Fellowship dinner for this evening had to be
cancelled due to Kathy's Hemmah's illness. The "Old Fashioned Christmas for
the Young at Heart" activity was very well presented. The hope is to make it
bigger and better for next year. Candy making was fun. Red Hats continue to
prosper with another group starting. Pilates will begin meeting twice a week
due to the demand. The Newsletter subscriptions for the new year are coming
in at a good pace. Reminder notes will be sent for those who have not renewed.
C. November Dance - There were 63 people at the last dance. This was good for
having it the day before Thanksgiving. There will be no dance in December.
The new dance floor is now available for rental.
D. Card Sales- Card sales continue to do well with November sales totaling $150.
V. New Business
A. Introduction of Steve Cook as the new Mayor- Steve was unable to attend and
will try to make it next month.
B. Dance Floor Policies- September is still working on dance floor rental policies
for the new dance. The pieces will be rented for $10 each.
C. Board Members for 2005- Julie Jensen is returning for another term on the
Advisory Board in 2005. John and June Lyman will also return to the board.
VI. Adjournment: Lorraine made a motion to adjourn at 11: 1 Oam with a second from
Bob. The motion passed.
Next Meeting: Monday, January 17th at 10:00 a.m.
