Senior Advisory Board Minutes
November 15, 2004
Present: John Lyman, June Lyman, Robert Cogley, Liz Tokarzyk, Lorraine Zajicek
City Staff: Kathy Hemmah, September Jacobsen,
Absent: Julie Jensen, Jim Hanson, and John McRaith.
I. The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. by vice chairman John Lyman
II. Secretary's Report: The October 18th minutes were examined. Liz Tokarzyk, motion
to approve and Lorraine Zajicek seconded the motion. Motion approved.
III. Treasurer's Report: Card sales this past month included $130 from the Event Center
and $60 from Green Castle. The cost of $2383.4 7 was paid out for the dance floor
addition. First Federal donation was deposited and turned over to the city to cover
newsletter costs. The total of $936 was deposited from the Pool Concession Fund
Raiser. Further supplies for the Card Making group were also purchased. Robert
Cogley made the motion to approve the treasurer's report with a second from June
Lyman. The motion passed.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- June reported for Julie Jensen in regards to the Mystery Tour, all went
very well. All participants were pleased with the trip. As of now it will not be
possible to get a tour going to The Lion King.
B Update on Programs- 9th Group for Red Hats has been established, Guest Crafter
for Angels was very successful, Secret Pals will meet for their unveiling, Candy
making fundraiser is set for Dec. 6th, Texas Hold Em is going strong, they will
meet every week from now on, Peace Pal kids will be coming for the November
Fellowship Dinner, and hopefully the monthly Dance will be a success being so
close to the Holiday.
V. New Business
A. Discussion on bringing treats for Senior Activities- would like to see the Seniors
volunteer more "Treats"
B. Brain storming on cooking activities that can be offered for seniors.
C. December 10th will be the Senior Holiday party with a group of seventh graders
coming to perform a variety show. Cookies and treats will be provided. Tickets
available at desk.
D. Discussion on the Advisory Board sponsoring a Craft/Rummage Sale
fundraiser. April 7th is the tentative date with the hours being 8-5pm. No
clothing will be accepted. April 4th will be the drop off date for donated items.
Out of the donated items a few will be chosen for a silent auction.
E. Possibly purchase additional cabinets for the Card Makers with the funds from
the Sale.
F. Request for socks to be donated to needy kids here in the US.
G. Pool Table Cover- On hold- other priorities
H. John made a motion to let the Adaptive Recreation program use the new dance
floor at no extra charge, seconded by Robert Cogley.
VI. Adjournment: John made a motion to adjourn with a second from Liz. The motion
passed.
