Summer Proiects 2004
The Board reviewed the summer projects Schnobrich presented starting with
the 2004 Enerf!.V Tree vlantin!<s
- 238 Trees were planted this year with 72 homes applying for trees
with 65 homes receiving trees. 144 trees were planted on private
property and the rest were planted on public blvd and parking lot
areas
The MnDOT Roadside Landscape Partnership
163 trees were planted on Hwy 15 south, south of Century Ave with
Oaks, Hackberry and Red Cedar being planted, Schnobrich stated
that this Thursday a review of the project will be made with the local
MnDOT reps and the MnDOT Forester as a few questions were
needed to be answered prior to the project being approved by the
state. A few of the tree locations were being questioned by local
maintenance staff.
The DNR / School Dist #423 Community Forestry Project
- 61 trees along with a tree inventory of school grounds made up the
phase I of the project for 2004. The next phase will be more planting
and a review establishment of a maintenance plan for the school
district trees in 2005.
Schnobrich highlighted the upcoming report to the Utility Commission and
stated that he would be meeting with the new Utility General Manager
Michael Kumm in regards to the future of the Energy Tree Projects. Tim
Smith and Newt Potter stated they would like to meet with Michael Kumm
also to discuss Hutchinson's past projects. Schnobrich will request such a
meeting for September.
Schnobrich invited Board members to attend a MnSTAC meeting on
August 19th at the University of Minnesota St. Paul Campus. Newt Potter
indicated he would like to attend. Schnobrich will arrange it.
