05-05-2025 PRCEM Parks, Recreation &Community Education Advisory Board Meeting Minutes May 5, 2025 Members present were Kyle Wendling, Liz Stearns, Margo Kaping,Josh Kamrath, Eric Thovson, Ann Lamecker, Chad Czmowski and Erin Knudtson. Staff present Lynn Neumann and Leslie Alberts. Kyle Wendling called the meeting to order at 5:15 pm. Chad Czmowski moved to approve the April 7, 2025, meeting minutes. Erin Knudtson seconded the motion.The minutes were approved. Old Business Remote Control Track at Tartan Park • Moving forward with racetrack—no cost to the city • Racetrack will be a permanent structure • Lynn will send out a map of the layout • Questions came up about parking: people should park by Veterans Memorial Field and take the trail to Tartan Park area VMF Update • Restrooms are complete • Installed temporary irrigation to rejuvenate the grass • Grandstand is complete except for the fencing and windscreens under the grandstand • Need to install turf around grandstand • Need to finish painting the building New Business Parks Maintenance Equipment Operator Vacancy • Brian Magnusson's last day with the city will be May 14 • Interviews will be held first week of June • Looking at leasing an automatic field painter to cut down on labor hours in Parks Dept. Driftrider's Park Letter to Adjacent Property Owners • Letter is drafted and Lynn will send out to the Park Board • Letter will go out to property owners in the next couple of weeks • City will mark property lines with lathes Roberts Park Complex Lighting Project • New lighting will be installed this year • Estimated cost: $750,000 • Using SLA(Sports Lighting Authority) as the contractor • Project to take place in October, roughly after MEA break PRCE Donations and Requests • Lots of projects happen over the summer with limited park labor hours to complete it • There are so many requests from local groups and organizations to add more to our parks system • Idea was brought up to create a Proposal or Action Plan process for associations/groups to fill out to submit to the Park Board • Complete a "project list"for associations/groups to see what is on the Parks docket so they understand how lengthy the list is and where their potential project would fall in the listing • Idea was brought up to bill out for Parks staff time Walk/Bike to School Week • Police Chief, Fire Chief, Hutchinson Health President and the Bike& Ped community members will be leading groups to school on May 7 • Goodie bags available at the school when they arrive Kimberly Park • A permanent trail is being installed due to Luce Line Trail being closed • Luce Line trail closed for the next 1.5 years due to utilities substation being worked on Board Member Items • Notifications on cancellations for early morning activities in school facilities—working with IT to get Community Education set up in the program for notifications Adjournment • Next meeting is June 2-Location TBD Erin Knudtson moved to adjourn, and Liz Stearns seconded the motion.The meeting adjourned at 6:08pm.
