06-06-2022 PRCEM Parks, Recreation & Community Education Advisory Board Meeting Minutes June 6, 2022 Members present were Chad Czmowski, Ashley Gabbert, Josh Kamrath, Kyle Wendling, Craig Juhnke, Mark Lansink, Erin Knudtson & Liz Marcus. Staff present Lynn Neumann and Leslie Alberts. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm. Motion was made by Craig Juhnke to approve the minutes for May 2. Josh Kamrath second the motion. Minutes were approved. New Business Hutchinson Resident: Kiwanis Park Idea a. Ann Martinson had an idea for the Kiwanis park to be turned into an amphitheater. b. Could be used for movies, bands, church, talent nights, etc. c. Would add something to the north side of Hutchinson d. Questions were: what happens to sledding in winter? How do we get electrical below the hill? Already have an established stage in the campground area – are we doubling up on sites? BIRD Presentation – Carly Gruenberg via ZOOM a. Electric vehicle company that specializes in scooters and bikes b. Per minute fee with an average cost of $6/ride – capped speed at 15 mph c. Entrepreneur in town that would be the fleet manager d. No up-front cost or infrastructure to the city/typically 1 year term e. Operational for 3 seasons out of the year unless winter weather is conducive to riding f. Questions for Carly: What is the turnover rate? Can they be ridden on the state part of the Luce Line? ActiveNet vs Civic Rec for Registration Software a. Civic Rec Cost: $26,000 for first year cost then changes to $19,000/year b. Board agrees to move forward with Civic Rec registration software Splash Pad Project Public Engagement Update a. Open House – Thursday, June 16 from 5-7pm b. Board members agreed to try to attend open house as volunteers to promote c. Lynn Neumann to create posterboards Ordinance Change a. Roberts Park is being utilized as a dog park b. Looking to other city ordinances for verbiage to change ordinance that patrons cannot bring their pets into athletic complexes in town Board Member Items a. Chad Czmowski: asked that t-ball / softball schedules be sent out in a timelier manner. Families not receiving them until the week of or day before. b. Parks are looking very nice! c. Concern about the docks at the river – using pallets as a “bridge” from shore to the dock. May be unsafe. Lynn to check into this. Adjournment Motion was made to adjourn by Chad Czmowski.
