06-07-2021 PRCEM MINUTES Parks, Recreation & Community Education Advisory Board Location: Masonic West River Campground June 7, 2021 Members present were JoEllen Kimball, Jeff Hoeft, Craig Juhnke, Ashley Gabbert, Josh Kamrath, Liz Marcus, Tim Peterson, Mark Lansink and Chad Czmowski. Also present were Lynn Neumann, Dan Howk and Leslie Alberts. The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm. A motion was made by Mark Lansink to approve the minutes from the April 5, 2021, meeting. Chad nd Czmowski 2 the motion. Minutes were approved. Old Business A. PRCE Monthly Reports B. Max Galaxy Transition to ActiveNet C. Hutchinson Aquatic Center New Business A. Bike & Board Bonanza a. Sponsors are the Rotary Club, Hutchinson Jaycees and the Bike & Ped Committee. b. June 10 at Rotary park. B. Future Splash Pad Locations a. Lynn will be meeting with the City of Litchfield to discuss their splash pad area b. Various locations were proposed for future splash pad location: Riverside/EDA Location, Campground in green space, Tartan park, Roberts park c. Splash pads can run from early May-mid-September d. Timeline for possible installation would be 2022 C. Fireman’s Park a. $20,000 is allocated for a 2021 b. Shelter will be painted by Fire Department c. New countertop will be installed, electrical and walkway from trail to shelter d. A maltese cross with a flagpole will be installed for identification of the fire department D. Masonic West River Campground a. Since opening in May, each weekend has been booked for almost every site. b. Looking to add online option to purchase river rentals. c. Campground expansion is slated in the next 5-10 years d. Playground replacement is scheduled for 2023; $65,000 has been allocated for this project – there has discussion on moving the playground to the north side of the road for safety e. Questions that have been brought up: slimming down tent sites? Adding more showers? Adding a weekly rate for full hook up sites? Adding a campground host? Board Member Items a. Option for fishing pier at campground – Lynn and Sara discussing options. b. Hammock policy: do we need to write a policy for hammock etiquette? Lynn asked Mark Lansink if he’d offer a hammock class through Community Education. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm. Next Meeting: No meeting in July. Will meet Monday, August 2, 2021
