MINUTES
Parks, Recreation & Community Education Advisory Board
July 6, 2020
Members present were Marsha Anderson, Chad Czmowski, Marlys Hoeft, Liz Marcus, Tim Peterson,
Tiffany Barnard and Mark Lansink. Also present were Dolf Moon and Leslie Alberts.
The meeting was called to order at 5:15 pm.
A motion was made by Marsha Anderson to approve the minutes from the February 3, 2020, meeting.
Liz Marcus and Chad Czmowski motioned to approve. The board unanimously agreed.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Annual Report Questions – None.
New Business
A. COVID-19 Update
a. Dolf presented current roster numbers for the PRCE activities that opened.
B. Modified Budget
a. PRCE reduced expenses by $707,000. As of July, campground has generated
$23,000 in revenue.
b. No summer ice rental due to protocols for social distancing.
C. Summer Program/Brochures
a. No full print brochure for summer – smaller version with marketing on Facebook and
webpages.
b. No decision made about printing a fall brochure – could we print a semi-annual
brochure?
c. Fall PRCE programming undecided at this point.
D. Projects
a. Recreation Center: roof and fascia not moving as quickly as expected. Anticipated
completion date of August 11, 2020, for primary elections.
b. Elks Park: bathroom renovation
c. Campground: bathroom painting needs to be completed since the old paint is
peeling off.
d. Park benches: wood chips under the benches are being replaced with cement pads.
There are 12 benches to complete this summer.
e. Luce Line Trail patching: frost heaves on parts of the trail will be patched for safety.
f. Lions West: New playground installation completed.
g. Veterans Memorial Field: working with the Huskies team to redo the fencing at the
field.
