Hutchinson Police Commission Minutes
The Hutchinson Police Commission held a meeting on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Hutchinson Police Station.
Present at the meeting were, Commissioner Kim Pearson, Commissioner Liz Cheney, Chief Tom Gifferson and HR
Director Kellie Wendland.
Call the Meeting to Order:
Commissioner Kim Pearson called the meeting to order at 4:45 pm.
Approval of Agenda:
Chairperson Pearson asked if there were any changes to the October agenda. Commissioner Cheney made a motion
to approve the agenda, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes:
Commissioner Pearson asked the Commission to approve the minutes from the October meeting. Commissioner
Cheney made a motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Commissioner Pearson. The motion carried
unanimously.
Rules and Regs:
Staffing Issues:
Chief Gifferson provided an update on the policy project.
Chief Gifferson spoke about the lay-off procedure / per Commission Rules and Regulations.
HR Director Wendland provided the Commission with job descriptions for the position to be laid off.
Chief Gifferson discussed the need to convene a special meeting.

Adjourn: Commissioner Cheney made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Pearson to adjourn the meeting. The
motion carried unanimously. Time of adjournment 5:05 pm.
The next meeting is Tuesday December 19th, 2023 at 5:00 pm.
