Senior Advisory Board Minutes
September 26, 2022
Present: Al Barkeim, Connie Dahl, Rhonda Schwarze, Julie Jensen, Mike Becker,
Randy Kandt, Jeannette Meyer
City Staff: Jenny Behrendt, John McRaith, Lynn Neumann
Absent: Dave Husfeldt,
I. The meeting was called to order at 10:03am by chairperson Rhonda Schwarze.
II. Secretary’s Report: The minutes from last month’s meeting were reviewed. The only
correction was a typo on the card sales. Total should be $104.20. Jeannette made a
motion to approve the minutes with a second from Connie. The motion passed.
III. Monthly Sales Review: Card sales amounted to $111.60 for the month of August and
another $14 was brought in from the sale of scrubbers. The tours have also netted
$457.20 for August and September.
IV. Old Business
A. Book & Puzzle Sale- The book and puzzle sale was very successful with a net
profit of $1029. Many requests to hold another one in the future.
VI. Business
A. Senior Center Tours- Julie reported that the annual visit to the State Fair had

good numbers with 41 participants for Senior Day. A September 15 tour to
visit the Minnesota Arboretum featured an open-air trolley ride and a flower pot
lunch and had 40 people aboard. A visit to the Minnesota History Theater to
see a presentation on Buddy Holly followed by a buffet lunch at Joseph’s Grill

is set for October 6. That is followed by a November 8 tour to the Old Log

Theater to see “Once Upon A Mattress”. On December 10 we’ll be at the
Paramount Theater in St. Cloud for a presentation of “White Christmas” and a

chance to dine at the Coyote Moon Grill. January 25 a group will head to Cold
Spring to enjoy some music involving performers from Branson. Valentine’s
Day will bring a trip to the Ives Auditorium in Bloomington for a Beatles
Review.
B. Update on Programs- The movie for September was “American Traitor: The
Trial of Axis Sally”. “Dog” is the featured movie for October. An AARP
driving class was held with 26 people attending. A request has been made to
get some bean bag/corn hole games for the Senior Center. Al made a motion
seconded by Randy that we purchase a couple sets. The motion passed.
C. Other- Lynn Neumann provided an update on the status of the Event Center.
While negotiations are ongoing for the purchase of the building, the Senior
Center will definitely be in the building for 2023 and possibly beyond. Rentals
will still be available this coming year but only during the business hours of
9:00am - 3:30pm.
VI. Adjournment: Connie made a motion to adjourn at 10:46 am with a second from
Randy. The motion passed. The next scheduled meeting of the Senior Advisory
