05-25-2021 SAM Senior Advisory Board Minutes May 25, 2021 Present: Kay Yoch, Al Barkeim, Connie Dahl, Jeannette Meyer, Rhonda Schwarze, Julie Jensen, Dave Husfeldt City Staff: September Jacobsen, Jenni Behrendt, John McRaith Absent: Mike Becker I. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chair Kay Yoch. II. Secretary’s Report: The minutes from last month’s meeting were reviewed. No corrections were brought forward. Jeannette made a motion to approve the minutes with a second from Connie. The motion passed. III. Monthly Sales Review: September reported that card sales totaled $51 with Green Castle selling the majority. Scrubbers brought in another $4. Sales are slim until we can get our crafts up and running again. IV. Old Business A. None. VI. Business A. Senior Center Tours- Julie reported that tours will begin again in August with a trip to Lake Minnetonka for a boat ride. This also includes a stop at some flower gardens in Orono. The St. Paul Saints will be playing in front of our Senior thth Center fans on Wednesday, September 8. October 15 will be the rescheduled trip to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater to see their rendition of “The Music Man.” B. Program Updates- September reported that the Center has started picking up as activities in May are drawing three times as many participants as they did in April. The knitting workshop on Monday afternoons and a session on learning the card game Sheephead will take a break for the summer. The foot clinic will resume their Senior Center visits in late June. A group went kayaking at Lake th Marion last evening. The group will now head to Lake Erie on June 16. Meet rd at 4:00p at the Event Center. The rainout date is June 23. The SAIL program will begin again in July along with pilates and yoga. A Christmas in July Decko party is also being planned. C. Flag Pole at Senior Center- An estimate came back that a flag pole for the Senior Center would cost $3049. The City would pay for installation and electrical. D. Other Items- September brought up the idea of downsizing the newsletter from eight pages to four. It would reduce cost and still allow for all pertinent information to be included. Dave made a motion to proceed with the downsizing with a second from Rhonda. The motion passed. A craft sale in September is a no go due to lack of items to sell. September is planning a “Hike down to the Senior Center for some social exercise” open house for the month of July. VI. Adjournment: Jeannette made a motion to adjourn at 10:36 am with a second from Connie. The motion passed.
