Senior Advisory Board Minutes
August 26, 2019
Present: Kay Yoch, Al Barkheim, Curt Dahl, Julie Jensen, Jeannette Meyer, Darlene

Absent: Rhonda Schwarze, Mike Becker, John McRaith.
I. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chair Kay Yoch.
II. Secretary’s Report: The July minutes were reviewed and approved on a motion
Made by Curt and seconded by Jeannette. Motion approved.
III. Treasurer’s Report: September reported in Mike’ absence. July card sales amounted
to $111.60 while dishcloths brought in $22.50. Wood frames brought in $35 and
magnets raised a total of $5. Darlene made a motion to accept the treasury report
with a second from Curt. Motion approved.
IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie reported that the next trip will be the annual trip to the state fair on

August 29. This year’s plan to stay six hours has been a success. There are still
th
openings for the September 11 tour that will be going to Elk River to experience
the Oliver Kelley farm and life in the 1850’s. A leaf cruise in Stillwater and a
th
visit to an apple orchard are on tap for October 8. This tour is full with a lengthy
th
waiting list. The next advertised tour will be a November 4 trip to the St. Cloud
Paramount Theater to see Shoji Tabuchi. St. Paul’s History Theater will be the
th
December 12 trip enjoying a review of Judy Garland and meal at Joseph’s Grill.

Looking ahead to next year, March 19 is reserved for a tour to Cold Springs
Blue Heron for musical entertainment that will be presenting pop, country and
some gospel.
B. Update on Programs- September reported on July’s activities. The monthly
movie for July was “Breakthrough” and had numerous attendees. The bonus
movie was “The Upside” which is based on actual events and was well attended.
The August Kayaking outing to Lake Erie was awesome and had over a dozen
participants. August featured a speaker who discussed general pain and ways to
th
manage it. In September, the center will be a host location for the 25 annual Sr.
Expo. This year’s expo keynote speaker will be Lindsey Whalen. The expo
committee is expecting a sold out crowd. In partnership with the Hutchinson
medical center, the Event Center will be the needle disposal location on
th
September 19.
V. Business
th
A. October 5 Concert- Jimmy’s Legends and Laughter Show will be on display at
the Event Center this October. The show will be presented in the afternoon with
a potential evening show if sold out. Tickets will be $25 in advance or $30 at
the door. Several tickets are currently been sold. The Board will be selling the
usual popcorn and bottled water. Posters will be posted and staff while staff
continues to recruit sponsors.
B. A lengthy discussion in regards to the current money transactions for tours
ended with the Board asking staff to report on any developments.
D. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Lori
Kennedy.
VI. Adjournment: Curt made a motion to adjourn at 11:15 am with a second from Darlene.
The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board’s next regularly scheduled business

meeting will be held on Monday, September 23 at 10:00am.
