IV. Old Business
A. Tours- Julie reported that the trip to the Hudson House in Hudson, Wisconsin
went without any issues. This Wednesday a group is set to see “Mama Mia” at
th
the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. On June 5 we’ll be looking for a mystery tour
th
and July 20 will bring a cruise on the Mississippi river. The month of August
will include our annual trip to the state fair and this year they plan to stay six
th
hours. On September 11 we will be traveling to Elk River to experience the
Oliver Kelley farm. A leaf cruise in Stillwater and a visit to an apple orchard are
thth
on tap for October 8. Rounding out the year will be a November 4 trip to the
th
St. Cloud Paramount Theater to see Shoji Tabuchi and a potential December 8
Christmas concert at Gustavus Adolphus.
B. Update on Programs- September reported that the monthly movie for May was
“The Green Book”. June will bring a showing of “12 Strong” with “Leisure
Seeker” as the bonus movie. The Fellowship dinner will be held next week. In
June broasted chicken will be on the menu for this event. Therapy dogs will be
th
coming to the Center on May 6. Afternoon ping pong is getting decent numbers
and pickleball has been growing at the Recreation Center. Kayaking is back in
th
season and a group will be heading to Thompson Lake by Cosmos on June 10.
V. Business
th
A. Concert Review- The May 4 concert drew 253 people to the Event Center.
With the help of a Thrivent grant the Senior Center netted $2456 from this
event. There were many positive comments about the concert.
B. Potential Fall Concert- September came across another performer who puts on a
show that includes imitating some of the great singers along with some comedy
th
and interaction with the audience. He happens to be in the area on October 5
and is available for a concert. The plan would be to offer an afternoon show
and have the possibility of a second show on the same day if it sells out. Curt
made a motion that we pursue this opportunity and got a second from Mike.
The board consented to the motion.
C. T-Shirt Design- September showed the board members a potential design for a
Senior Center t-shirt. It would have a logo on the front and a listing of all the
activities held at the Center on the back. The challenge will be in choosing a
logo for the front of the shirt.
D. Other- The monthly drawing for Fellowship Dinner tickets went to Marlyn
Krueger.
VI. Adjournment: Curt made a motion to adjourn at 11:04 am with a second from
Darlene. The motion passed. The Senior Advisory Board’s next regularly scheduled
th
business meeting will be held on Monday, June 24 at 10:00am.
